If you’ve ever worked in startups (or any business for that matter!) you know it can sometimes be a headache to find the right person for your business. And if you’ve ever been a service-based freelancer, you would know that creating quality content and searching for new clients can take up A LOT of your time.
After seeing and relating to both sides of this problem many startups and freelancers face, Olga decided to launch Upmarqt, a personalized platform for entrepreneurs to connect with high-quality service providers.
We love connecting with fellow marketplace founders! Check out her full interview below to learn more about the steps she took to launch her startup, why she always recommends outsourcing as soon as you can and her mission to help others grow their business faster + enjoy the process of entrepreneurship!
On social media I saw how many talented people spend majority of their time looking for clients and creating content that is never seen instead of focussing on what they love and do best. At the same time, I already started to work with businesses and saw the amount resources are wasted (time and money) on outsourcing to the wrong people. That’s how the inspiration for Upmarqt came. I thought that on one hand I can help service providers truly focus on and develop what they do best and love and at the same time I would be helping businesses and startups who whom is it always a headache to find the right person for their business.
My background is 12 years of experience in a corporate environment developing global product strategy and product from consumer insight through development and to global marketing campaigns, all of which achieved exceptional results and entrance into high end markets. Due to this experience I have an understanding of various areas from brand and marketing to finance to legal and more, which enables me to find the highest quality talent for Upmarqt.
When I see successful connections made and people are excited to work with each other and get fantastic results it really makes me forget all the challenges associated with running a startup and pushes me forward :).
The best part is that you can make your day flexible, so I take my daughter to her activities myself after school, instead of hiring a babysitter. The hardest is having to work nights and weekends and vacations so I feel I don’t spend enough time with her.
As best as I can :D. The time during school pick up and the 2 hours before her bedtime are off limits, where I don’t take any calls.
Get your basics and idea straight. Make sure your why is strong enough for you not to give up when it gets tough, that your why is connected to your values. And then outsource as soon as you can as much as you can, so that you can focus on strategy and what you do best.
